From the 18th of February until the 19th of March multimedia designer Naomi Kerkhove and her team are working in wpZimmer on Suitcase, her new performance which will premiere on the 29th of March 2012 in Vooruit in Ghent.
In 2010 Naomi made a strong impression with White Out, an unsettling miniature world in black and white, self-stiched on a sewing machine. With Suitcase, her second creation, Naomi continues her quest in the border region between comics, design, music and film.
The characters in Suitcase are swallowed up by the cinematographic world that surrounds them, just like passengers in the street sometimes seem to merge into their environment. But actually they are manipulating their lifeworld in a direct and physical way by means of intelligent textile and interactive sensors. Suitcase tells no linear story, but traces the way apparently isolated events are connected in a world in which everyone is a passenger.
